Karisma is a radiology information system built for private and public radiology practices across Australia and New Zealand. It manages patient bookings, referral intake, protocolling, reporting, results distribution and billing within a single platform. Karisma is configurable at the worksite level and scales from single-site practices to complex multi-site networks managing high examination volumes across multiple modalities.
PLS is Kestral’s Pathology Laboratory System, built for pathology departments in Australian public hospitals. It manages the full laboratory workflow including sample management, result processing and reporting, and integrates with hospital information systems and clinical platforms already in use. PLS is in active use across public hospital networks in Australia.
Kestral software supports the key standards and integrations used in Australian and New Zealand diagnostic healthcare, including HL7, FHIR eRequesting, PACS connectivity, Medicare and DVA billing, My Health Record, ECLIPSE and RANZCR and RCPA compliance requirements. Karisma’s K-Link integration gateway manages third-party connections, keeping integrations secure and stable as a practice’s technology environment grows.
Kestral provides 24/7 phone and ticket-based support for all customers across Australia and New Zealand. Members of the support team have clinical science backgrounds and understand the operational context of diagnostic practice, not just the software. Training is available at go-live and on an ongoing basis as teams change or new modules are added.
Kestral has been building diagnostic healthcare software since the mid-1980s, when PLS, its pathology laboratory system for public hospitals, was created. Kestral became a registered company in 1989 and developed RMS, its first radiology software, between 1989 and 1991. RMS evolved into Karisma in 2006, now one of the leading radiology information systems in Australia and New Zealand.
